🎉 We’re delighted to share some exciting news: Team Shourie has won the US trials and will represent the United States as USA1 at the 2027 Bermuda Bowl – the most prestigious event in bridge, equivalent to a world championship.
👏 Two of IntoBridge’s biggest supporters, Gavin Wolpert and Rajath Shourie, achieved this remarkable result together with their teammates: Vincent Demuy, John Hurd, John Kranyak, and Kevin Bathurst.
🏆 The team entered the event seeded third, but after finishing first in the 16-team Round Robin qualifying stage, they moved up to Seed 1 for the knockout rounds. Each KO match was a grueling 120 boards over two days, and Team Shourie delivered all the way through:
- Quarterfinal: defeated Team Kovachev by 40 IMPs (311–271)
- Semifinal: defeated Team Wildavsky by 50 IMPs (242–192), captained by Adam Wildavsky, who many of you know from the Daily Celebrity Challenge
- Final: faced Team Fleischer, who led for 7 of the 8 segments – but in the last set, when it mattered most, Team Shourie produced a decisive swing to win by 44 IMPs (253–209)
🙌 A huge congratulations to Raj, Gavin, and the entire team for winning this 9-day, world-class marathon and earning the right to represent the United States on bridge’s biggest stage!
